Tier Setup

Learn how to set up a single or multi-tiered reward campaign.

In the tier section, you determine how you want to reward your direct advocates. You can create a fixed or variable tier to make your reward campaign more attractive to your audience.
Please Note: By default, when you open a Genius Referrals account, we create your first referral marketing campaign. The details of your default campaign are based on the input entered into the onboard process. You can always edit or customize your campaign whenever you want.

Each plan has a different limit for the number of reward campaigns running simultaneously. See our plans and pricing here.

How do I Find the Tier Section?

To find the Tier, click on the Campaigns located on the left side navigation menu, click on the 3 dots under the actions column, then click Edit.

How to Set up a Tier Step by Step?

Step 1: Select a Tier Type
Tier is based on the total of referrals the advocate generated or the bonus the advocate can earn. One reward tier is the default and required.
On the dropdown menu, select a tier type. You can select one of the following tier types:
  • Referral: This is used when you want to reward an advocate based on the total of referrals generated.
  • Bonuses: This is used when you want to reward an advocate based on the total of bonuses earned
Step 2: Select the Value of the Bonus
This is used to calculate the bonus amount. The calculation can be based on a fixed or percentage amount.
On the dropdown menu, select the value of the bonus. You can select one of the following:
  • Percentage: Determines the percentage of the referral's purchase that the advocate can earn.
  • Fixed: Determines the fixed amount the advocate can earn.
Step 3: Date Range
This section is optional, recommended only If you want to limit the tier to a time period. By default, there is no time period restriction on your tier. This section lets you configure custom date periods.

On the date range dropdown menu, select a time frame for your campaign.
Example: Reward Campaign with a time period

You can create date ranges such as "last 7 days"

After setting up a Tier, click Create and then Continue to skip the next few steps till you get the Finish button.
How to Add Single Tier Campaign?
A single-tier allows you to reward your direct advocates with a fixed or variable bonus. You can also add a time period restriction. To create one tier reward, see the following.
Example: One Tier Campaign

If you want to set up a reward campaign with one tier, where your advocate earns $5 after a friend completes a purchase. The setup should be as follow:

Tier:
  • 1 + referral = $5
How to Add a Multi-Tiered Campaign?
A multi-tiered campaign is a great way to make your referral program more attractive to your audience. It allows you to reward your direct advocates with a fixed or variable bonus based on the tier they fall into. You can have unlimited tiers.

Multi-tiered are only available on certain Genius plans. See our plans and pricing here.
Example: Multi-Tiered Campaign

If you want the set up a reward campaign with three tiers where your advocates earn $5 for the first 5 referrals, $8 from the 6th to the 10th referral, and $10 after the 10th referral. The setup should be as follow:

Multi-Tiered:
  • 1 + Referral = $5
  • 6 + Referral = $8
  • 10 + Referral = $10

On tier 1: The advocate earns $5 per referral for the first 5 referrals. The total an advocate can earn on this tier is $25 ($5 * 5). Once the advocate generates the 6th referral, he will be processed using the rules set on tier 2.

On tier 2: The advocate earns $8 per referral from the 6th to the 10th referral. The total an advocate can earn in this tier is $32 ($8 * 4). Once the advocate generates the 10th referral, he will be processed using the rules set on tier 3.

On tier 3: The advocate $10 per referral. As there is no limit on the total amount of bonuses the advocate can receive on this tier, he will receive $10 every time he generates a new referral.
