Step 1: Get Your Wise API Key

1. Log in to Your Wise Account
Access your Wise Business Account using your credentials. If you don’t have an account yet, you can sign up for a Wise Business Account at wise.com.

2. Navigate to the API and Webhooks Section
After logging in, go to the Settings menu and find the API and Webhooks section. This is where you can manage your API keys for integrations.

3. Generate a New API Key

Click on Generate New API Key.

Give the key a descriptive name (e.g., “Genius Referrals Integration”) to help you identify it later.

4. Copy the API Key Immediately

Copy the API key immediately after it’s generated to ensure you have it saved.

5. Save Your API Key Securely
Store the API key in a secure location, such as a password manager or an encrypted file. Do not share it publicly, as it provides access to your Wise account.

Step 2: Connect and Configure Your Wise Business Account with Genius Referrals

  1. Log in to your Genius Referrals account.
  2. Go to the Integrations section, locate Invoices and Payments, and select Wise.
  3. Enter your Wise API Token, check the box to authorize Genius Referrals to process payments using your Wise account, and click Connect Wise Account.
  4. Select a Wise profile to link to your account.
  5. Configure payment details, such as currency and transaction limits.
  6. Save your changes. The integration will now be in Pending Approval status.
  7. A Genius Referrals administrator will review your integration. You will receive an email notification once the status changes.
  8. When you return to the Wise integration, you will see the integration details. If the status is Enabled, you will also see two options: Edit and Pause.
Important Notes:
  • The Edit button allows you to modify your integration if needed.
  • The Pause button lets you temporarily pause the integration when it is enabled. This feature allows you to stop payments through Wise without canceling the integration.
  • To resume payments, click the Play button.

Step 3: Activate Wise as a Payment Method

  1. Go to the Reward Campaign section.
  2. Select a campaign, then click Edit in the Actions button.
  3. Click on Reward Type.
  4. Select Wise and click the Activate button.

Step 4: Integration Functionality Test

To test the integration, you need to go through the full flow of redemption requests in your referral program.

In the "Advocate Portal"

  1. Go to the Get Paid section to create a payout request using Wise.
  2. Add a new beneficiary or select an existing one and create the redemption request.
  3. Verify that the request appears in the Advocate Portal.
In the Admin Portal of Your "Referral Program"

  1. Go to your referral program administration under the "Rewards" menu, then to the "Payouts" section to view the payout requests created.
  2. If the requested payout is in "Pending" status, you must change it to "Processing" to initiate automatic processing.
  3. Once Wise starts processing the request, you will see it in Genius with the "Processing" status.
  4. When Wise completes the request and sends the payment to the beneficiary, the request will appear in Genius with the "Completed" status.
Note: There are certain types of transfers for which Wise requires the specific configuration of some optional requirements. In such cases, they will be displayed within the request while it is in the "Pending" status.
