What is the difference between an Advocate and a Referral?

An advocate is an individual—such as a customer, influencer, affiliate, partner, or employee—who is already familiar with your brand and actively promotes it to others. Advocates help expand your reach by recommending your business. On the other hand, a referral is someone—like a friend, family member, or acquaintance—who is introduced to your company by an advocate, typically with the potential to become a new customer.
